I love both versions of Holmes and Watson, I think part of it is that the movie Holmes/Watson is much farther along in their relationship than the BBCs is (at the moment, anyway, we did start at their very beginning after all) so John is a bit less in awe of Sherlock and more likely to go in the huff with him... I do think that the modern Sherlock is more true to the books though. But all versions are enjoyable ^___^

I can't wait to see the movie again, I keep asking my brother when he wants to go see it xD

I think both versions are very different and have merits of their own, I dislike comparing them, because I have immense love for both. BBC Sherlock is definitely closer to ACD's canon, and I love that the show gets to explore the beginnings of their relationship... I just completely adore RDJ and Jude's portrayals of Holmes and Watson; and the fact that the movies are so generous with slashy subtext doesn't hurt at all! ;D

I'm going to watch it again tomorrow! \o/ I hope you can too, soon.

I agree! I think they are very different (I think all versions of Sherlock and John are very different, and that might be part of what makes them so exciting!) I think RDJ and Jude are just utterly fabulous and I love that their friendship shines through in their characters--they are funny and adorable and bicker like they are married, and the slashy subtext doesn't hurt a bit ;)

I will drag my brother out to see it if I have to!

It does, doesn't it? Their chemistry is golden, and they bring such adorable domesticity to Holmes/Watson, I love it! :D (also, I don't think there was anything subtext-y about the gay subtext in the second movie lol).

You must! I can't wait to properly flail over the movie. I hope there's fic for it already, I must look!

*shakes head* Subtext went right out of the window. I had to keep reminding myself I was watching this with my mum, I cannot squee too loudly! I love their domesticity, and how Mary is perfectly aware that she is John's second wife ;)

(my only nitpick was, and this is a canon nitpick and me being weird more than anything else, I feel, is that I didn't like Irene being a love interest--I like Irene, I do, just not as Sherlock's other half--and I think that's because I really quite love that Sherlock is pretty much asexual--and arguably that the only person he's genuinely 'loved' is John. I do like that she challenges Sherlock and gets one over on him on occasion...I was sorry to see her go really...but Moriarty did need to be a sinister prick and I like him...)

I'm sure there will be fic by now xD

I'm me. That's minimalistic enough to be accurate and expansive enough to be deep.
